Big growler bear

I'm hoping someone can help with more information about this bear. It's 65 years old, my mother was given when she was 5 years old. The pads were replaced around 1975, and the growler will still work but only occasionally. It's rattling around inside which it never used to do. It's got no labels on it and it's looking a bit bare of fur in a few places. He's got a hole in his right leg which I've taken a picture of as I'm not sure what the material inside him is. His left ear is now falling off so he's not in the best of condition but I'd love to find out more about him as he's quite an old chap now.
His measurements are:
65 cm long
30cm legs ( hips to bottom of feet)
30 cm arms
29cm body
