Bill and big teddy

Hello, I have a couple of teddy bears, one that was my moms, then she gave to her younger brother. my mom is 75 yrs old this year, 2021.she then passed the larger teddy bear down to my brother. Well boys being boys he did not really want it.so it’s been mine for over 45yrs and I’m now 52 yrs old. It’s got orange and black eyes, I think they are plastic not glass. His mouth has been hand sewn with dark brown thick cotton, I think ?and his nose too. all his, arms and legs move, his paws and feet are hand sewn with dark brown thick cotton, but the pads under his feet are hard inside, he has what I think is straw stuffed inside him,. He his firm to touch.his ear is just about hanging on and his neck is coming undone. His growler works sometime when he feels like it. he measures 23 inches long from top of his head to the bottom of his feet, unfortunately there are no tags, he has been kept in the loft wrapped up for over 25 yrs now. he looks gingery colour, but he needs a good wash. the sad thing is I cannot recall what he was called, I also have a smaller teddy, he is at least 52 yrs old, I had it on my 1st birthday, I’m nearly 53yrs old and bill measures 10” inches long. All the arms and legs move, his eyes are dark brown and black , theses are plastic eyes,he has hand sewn black nose and mouth with dark brown cotton and again bills paws and feet are hand sewn with dark brown cotton.bills head was hanging off a fair bit, and it looks like my mom tried to keep it attached, his body is firm to touch and it feels like straw stuffing inside . There are no tags again on him.He was more a beige colour, but again could do with a bath. Bill is what I called him he has also been living in the loft wrapped up, with big teddy. I would be really happy if someone could help me with valuation of my teddy bears. Thankyou.

Dont wash him!
by: Anonymoussusan

Dont wet the bears....they are filled with stuffing that will not dry well and will also go moldy and will sag.....my bear is 71 years old now and he has yellowed somewhat....if you want to clean yours up, try a fabric safe stain remover sprayed on a damp rag and try to clean a small area..perhaps the back of an ear or on his bottom ..it should not stain it or bleach it...it will simply remove a bit of dusty dirt. I have also gently vacuumed mine as he is sitting on my dresser....if you must keep yours wrapped put a piece of charcoal in the bundle to ansorb moisture....good luck with the ID of your precious bears

Hi, thank you so much for your submission. Just to let you know that it is unlikely that someone can help you with a valuation. You would have to ask a specialist toy auctioneer.
