Teddy Bear sitting in a normal chair, May 2016

My wife’s mother had this bear as a child in country Victoria, Australia; she is now in her nineties, the bear may be older (?). The teddy bear is about a metre long and third of a metre wide.

The teddy bear has golden fur with a worn abdomen area but no wear holes or material patches on the fur. there is a small cut on the bottom of the right foot. The teddy bear once had a growl when tipped over, but it is no longer working.

The teddy bear has a black sown nose and mouth with a smooth brown material covering both hands and feet; the hands and feet material is sown on. The teddy bear has black finger and toe seperations sown in. The head, arms and legs are pivoted and move freely through 360 degrees, nothing is broken. The head is stuffed with a firm material which makes the head feel harder but has some suppleness; whereas the body is stuffed with a softer material which is firm but suppler than the head. Both feel somewhat like a real person’s head and body. The eyes appear to be glass. I have included a recent photo.

Thank you, if you can help.

Thanks for your comments ladies. Can you upload a picture of your respective bears please? That would help immensely.

More like a Chiltern
by: Maureen

I don't think this a Tara bear, his nose and mouth are very different.

It does look very much like a Chiltern Hugmee

I think it is a Tara bear as I have one. Mine is 24 inches long and growls. They come from Irelabd.
